How do we book you for our wedding?
I always try to meet up with you before confirming if at all possible, it’s not to have a little ice-breaking chat, find out more about you, what you’re looking for and how I can help you with it.
After that, a deposit of £350 secures the date, and once that’s done, I’m all yours, I like to keep in contact in the build-up with my brides and grooms, I like to help you in any way I can, to listen to any thoughts you have about your photos, about all the little details you’re doing to make your wedding completely yours. Many in the past have asked me for advice, for recommendations or ideas (this isn’t compulsary!) and I’m proud to be able to say that many of my past and future couples are now friends, I’ve even become “uncle Chris” to at least one newborn (this definitely isn’t compulsary)
Why does every wedding package come with 2 photographers?
I’ve always offered a 2nd photographer with my packages, and for 2012 I decided to add it to all packages, for one simple reason, it makes everyone’s life easier -when you’re having your first kiss, I’ll be capturing it, but what about your dad breaking into tears at the sight? I can’t be in two places at once….but now WE can!
Those fancy sky shots you’ve been admiring? They take a lot of equipment, I’d rather you didn’t have to help me carry it.
By having a second person there, we can scout and set up photo opportunities whilst you get congratulated and have ever more champagne thrust into your hands, you get to spend the happiest day of your lives with the people you wanted to be there, not on a 12 hour photoshoot.
How long do you stay for?
I don’t place a limit on hours, I like to tell the story of your day, sometimes that takes 6 hours, sometimes it takes 15, generally I will start at the same time as the bride, with the hairdressers and makeup artists, and more often than not I’m there when the DJ plays his last Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams record at 2AM.
The second photographer will normally cover groom preparations through to first dance.
There is never any extra charge for extra hours on your wedding day
How quickly do we see the photos?
I aim to have a blog posted for you to preview the photos before you leave for the airport, and your reprint DVD is usually ready shortly after you return.
Album designs take 3 – 4 weeks after the reprint DVD
Where do you cover?
Anywhere! Except the Arctic, I don’t like the cold.
I have 2 bases – the East Midlands and the South-West, but I love travelling and seeing new parts of the country, and can do so for very modest rates.
What is an engagement session?
An engagement session is many things to many people, it originated in America to get a photo of you both for your engagement announcement in the newspaper.
Personally I use it as a way to achieve multiple things:
- Get to know you more, get you used to big cameras and big lights
- The only chance we get to GUARANTEE the location and weather we’re going to get
- Find out any angles and poses you’re not happy with (no-one likes themselves from every angle right?)
Many of my past brides have had ingenious uses for their session.
- One bride used the photos to make their wedding invitations
- Many get a photo printed and mounted to be signed by your guests on the wedding day
- Some make a ‘photo guestbook’
Where do we do our portrait or engagement session?
Could be anywhere, a bluebell wood, a cornfield, a country park, the middle of a city, I’m always looking for new places, new opportunities and new challenges, and always open to your suggestions if you have a favourite place or a kick-ass idea.
I generally try and do the sessions somewhere outdoors, because I genuinely believe that it gives the best, unique photos, with more depth and visual appeal, however it does mean being a little flexible with regards to dates and times because of the…unique character of the British weather, however if you are date or time limited, the session can be undertaken in a fully-equipped (and heated!) studio for a very small surcharge.
